Sigmund Freud Society
Mission Statement


The Sigmund Freud Society was founded 1968 in Vienna. It has as its primary goal to bring to the public at large the life and work of Sigmund Freud as well as research results in the theorie and applications of psychoanalysis.

Via lectures and other public events and in cooperation with the Sigmund Freud museum and the Sigmund Freud Foundation, Vienna, which the Society has founded in 2002, the findings and results of Psychoanalysis and the contemporary developments shall be presented in an interdisciplinary dialogue.

In close cooperation with the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA) and her branch organisations as well as other scientific and cultural institutions in Austria and abroad the Sigmund Freud Society wants to male visible the broad range of the psychoanalytic field and will cultivate public scientific and pedagogic efforts in these matters.

The membership to the Sigmund Freud Society is open to everyone who is interested in Psychoanalysis and the life and work of Sigmund Freud.
